Golden Globes and the Fraternity and Sorority Members Who Have Won – 2015 Edition

The 72st Golden Globes were awarded January 11, 2015 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The awards were first presented in 1944.

There are several fraternity and sorority members who were in competition for the 2015 awards. Sadly, none of them won.

Matthew McConaughey, Delta Tau Delta, is nominated for Best Performance in a Miniseries or Television Film for his work in True Detective. Woody Harrelson, Sigma Chi, is also competing in that category for his work in the True Detective.

Kathy Bates, Alpha Delta Pi, is nominated for Best Supporting Performance in a Series, Miniseries, or Television Film for her performance in American Horror Story: Freak Show as Ethel Darling.

In addition Stephen Sondheim‘s wonderful songs are in Into the Woods, which he wrote with James Lapine. Sondheim is a member of Beta Theta Pi.

Please note that the reason I’ve compiled this list is to show the collective effort of fraternity men and women.

Over the years, a number of awards have been given to members of Greek-letter organizations. These winners are listed by category.

From the Psi Upsilon Fraternity Facebook page, "Anyone watching The Knick on Cinemax? In this week's episode The Delta Chapter at NYU made an appearance! The Knick is described as a look at the professional and personal lives of the staff at New York's Knickerbocker Hospital during the early part of the twentieth century, direct by Steven Soderbergh and starring Clive Owen."
